OPPORTUNITY ASSESSMENT TEMPLATE PACKAGE

A crucial step and the one that kicks off the GovCon process is to properly identify and assess potential contracting opportunities.  This can be somewhat of a daunting task to track and manage.  To help, we’ve created several templates that can be used to help make this process a little easier.  Here is what is included in this template package:

Opportunity Evaluation Tool – Once a potential opportunity is identified, it needs to be assessed to make sure that it fits within the capabilities of your company.  Your chances of winning are significantly higher for work that you have experience with and that is aligned with your core competencies.  This tool is used to make better Bid / No-Bid decisions and avoid opportunities that may not have a strong probability of winning.  The Opportunity Evaluation Tool has you subjectively rate a series of internal and external factors that will assess both the strength of your firm’s offering and the perceived strength of the competitive landscape.  The output is in a graphical format that recommends a range of actions to better facilitate a Go / No-Go decision.  Only go after the opportunities that you have the best chance of winning.

Opportunity Summary – Once a viable opportunity has been identified, it’s good practice to summarize the opportunity to present to your team for review.  This template provides an easy way to summarize an opportunity to a one-page document with standardized sections to keep information organized.  Allow everyone on your team to evaluate the opportunity using this summary without having to read through the entire solicitation.

Opportunity Tracker Tool – It can be challenging to keep track of all the opportunities that have been bid, ones that you found and decided not to bid and ones that you are watching (for instance a pre-solicitation).  This tool allows you to record the key information for each opportunity and track bid decisions, categorize opportunities, assign life cycle stages to follow progression, and follow your bid submission including the end award result.  Never again lose track of an opportunity with this management tool.
